About

Dr. Renee

My major field of expertise is in clinical psychology with a specialization in pediatric neuropsychological evaluation as well as child/family therapy. I am known for my expertise in neuropsychological evaluation as well as child, family, and broader systemic interventions for youth who present with a variety of complex, inter-related social-cultural and neurological needs. I assess neurodivergent thinkers, feelers, and learners, such as individuals who have “unique or neurodiverse learning styles” that can produce strengths and also underlie challenges with literacy/academics, language, problem-solving/executive functioning, emotion regulation, social skills, and self-esteem. My assessments prioritize the “whole picture,” particularly how systemic factors, such as culture, family life, school climate, and broader systems impact diagnoses and treatment needs. I frequently assess, observe, and provide ongoing educational consultation for children and adolescents in educational settings. In addition to the assessment of learning disabilities and differences, I specialize in Autism as well as the learning and social-emotional difficulties which stem from mood, anxiety, attachment, and trauma-related diagnoses. I am known for my expertise in assessing the overlap between Autism and psychiatric challenges, including psychosis. In addition to the evaluation of Autism from toddlerhood through young adulthood, I have specialized training and expertise with projective/psychological assessment (e.g. The Rorschach Inkblot Test). I also have a particular interest in the intersection of gender diverse and neurodiverse populations. I am a licensed psychologist in Massachusetts and Utah. I received my B.A. from Boston College and my Psy.D. from William James College. I completed my internship at the Huntsman Mental Health Institute (HMHI), formerly University Neuropsychiatric Institute (UNI), an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited program in Salt Lake City, UT and my postdoctoral fellowship at Cambridge Health Alliance, a Harvard Medical School teaching hospital in Boston, MA. Prior to opening my own practice, I worked for four years as a pediatric neuropsychologist at Neuropsychology and Education Services for Children and Adolescents (NESCA) in Newton, MA. While the majority of my current professional work is focused on providing neuropsychological evaluations and educational consultations, I continue to provide individual or family therapy to a small number of clients in my clinical practice. I specialize in family therapeutic intervention and have received extensive training in family therapy both at a pre-doctoral and post-doctoral level. I have expertise providing family and systems-focused interventions to children, adolescents, and families in both inpatient/acute settings and outpatient settings. I also have expertise delivering a combined approach of skill-based therapy (e.g. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) and systems-based therapy (e.g. Narrative Family Therapy) to high-risk, hospitalized children, adolescents, and their families. I dedicate time for teaching and supervision as an ongoing Teaching Associate in the Department of Psychiatry at Cambridge Health Alliance/Harvard Medical School. I provide weekly clinical supervision and co-teach the foundations of family therapy seminar for child and adolescent psychiatry fellows.
